Bill Gardner was confirmed a member of Community of Christ today. We are thrilled to welcome him to our congregation.
One week from today, the season of Lent begins. The season lasts six weeks, culminating in the celebration of Easter, and is a time of personal spiritual renewal. Many people observe Lent today by choosing to make some kind of personal sacrifice as we make our hearts ready to remember Jesus' life, death, and resurrection.
Our worship service today was filled with singing!
We learned about the practice of Taize (tie-zay) singing--a musical tradition in which short, simple phrases are sung repeatedly, often in canon. The Taize Community is an ecumenical monastic order of over 100 brothers from different faiths and countries. It is located in France.
The Community of Christ hymnal, Community of Christ Sings, was published in 2013 and is packed with songs of worship, peace, harmony, thanksgiving, community, and faith.
Please enjoy an excerpt of our congregation singing "What Does the Lord Require of You?" We are by no means a professional group, but we love singing together and experiencing the spirit that enfolds us when we worship in this way.

We are faced with lots of choices each and every day. Our choices reflect who and what we have decided to serve. Sometimes making the right choice seems overwhelming and it feels easier to make a different choice instead. However, when we intentionally reflect on who God is and on what God wants for all of creation, we are more prepared to respond with a responsible choice. One way we can do this is through spiritual practices.
